When we set out to create Sundarbans Watches, we knew we wanted to build more than just timepieces. We wanted to tell a story—one rooted in heritage, culture, nature, and purpose. That story begins in one of the most remarkable places on Earth: the Sundarbans.
A Place Like No Other
The Sundarbans is the largest mangrove forest in the world, stretching across southern Bangladesh and eastern India. It’s a place of raw beauty and biodiversity, where freshwater meets saltwater and Bengal tigers roam quietly between riverbanks and roots. But for us, the Sundarbans represents more than a location. It’s a symbol of resilience, harmony, and survival—timeless qualities we want every watch to embody.
Representation in Every Detail
As the British Bengali founder of Sundarbans Watches, I created this brand out of both passion and frustration. The watch industry is full of heritage, but very little of it reflects my heritage. I rarely saw South Asian stories, languages, or aesthetics represented—let alone celebrated—in watch design.
So I set out to change that.
Our watches are inspired by the landscapes and culture of Bengal, and many models feature Bengali numerals on the dial—a bold design choice rooted in identity. This isn’t just about style. It’s about representation. About seeing a piece of home reflected in something as universal as time.
The Keora: Our First Bloom
We named our debut model Keora, after the fragrant pandanus flower native to the Sundarbans. It’s one of the first plants to grow in this unique ecosystem—a symbol of new beginnings, renewal, and quiet beauty.
Much like the Keora flower, this watch represents the beginning of something new—not just for us as a microbrand, but for watch lovers looking for meaning, culture, and a deeper connection in the objects they wear.
Mechanical Time, Natural Rhythm
In an age of instant notifications and digital distraction, we chose to focus on mechanical watches. Because like the tides in the Sundarbans, we believe time should move organically. Our watches tick with rhythm and intention, powered by motion—not batteries.
We want wearers to slow down, feel the weight of a moment, and enjoy a sense of presence that can only come from the mechanical beauty of time.
A Story on Your Wrist
When you wear a Sundarbans watch, you’re not just wearing a product—you’re carrying a story. One of culture, nature, and representation. A reminder that great design doesn’t have to come from the same places, faces, or traditions that have dominated the industry for so long.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you connect to the forest, the culture, or just the design—we’re honored to have you with us.
